September 28-30 Statement Gathering in Ottawa, ON

The National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation (NCTR) invites Survivors of the residential school experience, Intergenerational Survivors and their families to share their experiences.

The story of your experience can be audio and video recorded, honoured and preserved with the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation.

The NCTR will be at LeBreton Flats Park, Ottawa September 28-30 to gather statements about the impacts of residential and day school. The story of your experience can be audio and video recorded, honoured, and preserved with the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation.

Please note:

Public and private statement gathering sessions will take place at the same time.
On September 29 and 30, National Day for Truth and Reconciliation activities and events will also be taking place in Ottawa. Learn more.

There is limited space available for in-person statement gathering and requests will be managed in the order they are received. An information and registration table will also be available to discuss statement gathering.

The process of reconciliation is a long-term effort, and we look forward to this dialogue with you. Your contribution will have a significant impact on the ongoing work of educating Canada on the truths of the Residential School.

If you are unable to register, we also have a virtual statement process available, our team is poised to deliver the highest possible public service through virtual statement gathering sessions. These online sessions are now available for you to share your experience with the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation. The online platform Zoom can provide a way for us to continue the work of statement gathering across Turtle Island. In addition, health supports will be present for your virtual statement. The health support personnel are there to support you through the whole process including following your statement for debriefing.
