“Earth for Sale”
Book Launch & Conversation with Maude Barlow
As ecological crises intensify around the world, questions about who controls our natural resources, and for whose benefit, have never been more urgent. The Office of Religious Congregations for Integral Ecology (ORCIE) is pleased to welcome renowned author, activist, and water advocate Maude Barlow for a special online book launch and discussion of her latest work, Earth for Sale: The Fight to Stop the Last Plunder of the Planet.
In this compelling new book, Barlow explores the growing trend of “financializing nature” – the transformation of Earth’s ecosystems and natural resources into financial assets for profit. Drawing on decades of experience as a leading voice for environmental justice, she challenges us to consider how we can protect the global commons while ensuring that decisions about nature remain grounded in the common good rather than private gain.
Join us on Thursday, June 25 at 2:00 p.m. (EDT) for an engaging conversation that will invite reflection, learning, and dialogue on some of the most pressing ecological issues of our time. Together, we will explore what it means to care for our common home and safeguard the Earth’s future for generations to come.
All are welcome.
