Walk into the Oblate Digital Library

Over the past months, the Oblates and Associates of OMI Lacombe Canada Province have been participating in our synodal process “Forward Together”. During the first round of small group gatherings, we were invited to tell our stories – stories of Oblate life, of significant moments in our lives. As one member of Provincial Council noted when we gathered to reflect on what we had heard in the gatherings “We Oblates (and by extension our Associates) love to tell stories and we are always happy to share our stories”. That impulse for storytelling is important, because it contains the life of the community.

Over the years the General Administration has made efforts to “tell the stories”, stories of our founding, of our history and of some of the members of the congregation who have gone before us. For some of us, we have had the privilege of hearing some of the heroic stories of our history from Oblates with whom we lived and who experienced some momentous times in our history. For most of us, however, those stories have not been heard because we did not have ready access to the printed stories.

The General Administration is now digitalizing our story. The series “Oblate Heritage” as well as other publications can be accessed online and gives us a window into the stories of some of our heroic Oblates and some momentous periods and events in our history. Check out the Oblate library here.
