Silver Jubilee

It is not often that we have a priest celebrating his silver jubilee in our Brother’s communities. But it happened this last weekend for Fr Grzegorz Oszust, OMI who is a Missionary Priest of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate.

Fr. Greg was learning Swahili in Arusha with the Spiritan Missionaries from January this year, and he was to return to Kenya by the end of May after the completion of his Swahili lessons, but due to Kenya closing its borders, we were blessed to host him in our Shams community.

Shams provided him the opportunity to practice his Swahili and even celebrate Swahili Eucharist with us in the community. Three times a week, we join our Parish Church for Eucharist with him; this being a good preparation for him for his next mission when he returns to Kenya. And on Sunday our two communities in Arusha came together to celebrate his Silver Jubilee. It was a joyous occasion for all of us.
