Kairos Blanket Exercise
Kateri Native Ministry is offering an opportunity for your parish to experience the KAIROS Blanket Exercise (KBE). This 2- 3-hour session is an experiential way to understand our shared history as Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in Canada. It includes a talking circle so we can get to know each other as Indigenous and non-Indigenous brothers and sisters. We can all be involved in healing from the residential school legacy and be part of a conversation about moving forward together with seeds of hope. We are all children of God and our hope is the Blanket Exercise brings us together and builds trust and respect.
Kateri Native Ministry is focused on the healing and reconciliation of Indigenous people. As you know we all need healing within ourselves, among people, among communities, within creation and with God the Creator. This offering is an initiative of the Kateri Native Ministry to begin the understanding of the history of Indigenous people within Canada.
The Ministry has been in existence for almost 25 years. It includes Outreach missions, healing and training through conferences, monthly Indigenous masses and a new land-based program called Kendaasawin: How We Learn. (please click on the link for the flyer for this program)
The KBE can be adapted to youth, adults or be offered as an intergenerational session. It requires a minimum of 15 people but there is no maximum group size as it can stand on its own.
The facilitators who would guide your parish through this experience are Donna Naughton (HBSW, MSW), Executive Director of Kateri and Kateri volunteers. They bring a strong spiritual component to this learning experience.
In addition to all or part of the parish, some examples of groups that might want to come together to experience the KBE include: Catholic Women’s League; Knights of Columbus; Prayer groups; Ministries, Clergy, Deacons; or perhaps have presentations during a retreat where the KBE becomes part of the prayers.
It can be offered in English, in French or bilingual.
There is no cost to parishes however a free offering would be appreciated in support of the work of the Kateri Native Ministry.
We invite you to walk with us on this journey toward truth and reconciliation as we build common understanding. To book a KBE or for more information call 613-565-4184 or email or admin@katerinativeministry.ca
