Looking Forward to a Synodal Inter-Chapter
When we gather to pray, discern, and listen to the Holy Spirit together; God moves in powerful ways. This is precisely what to expect from the upcoming Inter-Chapter of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate.
Gathering as a Family
On 10 May 2024, our Superior General, Fr. Luis Ignacio ROIS ALONSO, invited all Oblate Major Superiors to come together for this important moment in the life of our Congregation. Guided by our Constitutions and Rules (R.128f), this meeting is meant to review how we are living the mandates of the last General Chapter, encourage one another in carrying them forward, and begin preparing for the next Chapter.
From August 18-30, 2025, 52 participants will take part, including 24 provincials, 14 delegation superiors, 2 mission superiors of the Asia-Oceania Region, and the Central Government. Teams dedicated to translation, communication, IT, and liturgy will provide support, ensuring the meeting’s work runs smoothly.
A Synodal Way of Listening
The Inter-Chapter will follow the “Synodal Process,” echoing the early Church in Acts, where believers met to pray, to discern, and to walk together in the Spirit. This process seeks to build community and solidarity among Major Superiors through both formal and informal exchanges, to help participants live out the principles of synodality by engaging in Conversations in the Spirit, and to work toward the objectives of the meeting as outlined in R.128f.
Guided by the Holy Spirit
Under the guidance of the Superior General, the Steering Committee, together with the facilitator, Fr. Christian FINI, and the moderators, Fr. Robert MUNGELA and Bro. Angelo DIANA, will lead the Inter-Chapter meeting.
As a Congregation, united with the whole Charismatic Family, we call upon the Holy Spirit for this important gathering of the Oblates. We pray for the Spirit of wisdom, that we may discern well, and for the Spirit of strength, that we may move forward with courage as Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate.
