OMI Kenya Receives another Parish in Meru Town

On 20th August, 2018, Fr Daquin technically became the first Parish Priest of St Eugene de Mazenod Parish, on the edge of Meru town… an area called IRINDA.

The new Parish is carved out of the Cathedral parish: originally to be four Prayer Centres, but two are thinking of remaining with the Cathedral parish community, so at the moment it is two definite: Irinda and Gachanka, and two possible.

On Sunday 7th October, Fr Fidel (Mission Superior) joined Fr Daquin to celebrate his first Masses as the new Parish Priest.  Fr Ken Mwenda (Cathedral Assistant Priest) accompanied them.  At Gachanka, Fr Daquin was with one of the committee members, Mrs Betha Mwengwa Ndereba.

This is the third parish given into the pastoral care of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate in Kenya, and the second parish in the Diocese of Meru.

Initially, Fr Daquin will stay at the Oblate residence – former Postulancy – while the parish prepares a presbytery.
