OMI Novena for the Immaculate Conception 2025
A Journey of Faith and Gratitude
On December 8th, we celebrated the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, our patroness, a feast that stands at the heart of the Oblate family. In preparation for this day, we shared a nine day online Novena from November 30 to December 8, which led into the celebration of the Solemnity.
Led by the Charismatic family of the Anglo Irish Province, the Novena offered moments of prayer and reflection shared daily on the OMIWORLD Instagram and Facebook pages. Each session invited us to pause, deepen our devotion to Mary Immaculate, and draw inspiration from the Oblate Constitution and Rules as we prepare to mark 200 years of their foundation.
A Diverse and Dedicated Team
This year’s Novena featured contributions from across the Anglo Irish Province.
- Gerard Bennett, Coordinator of Lay Participation, Dublin, Ireland
- Pauline Thomas, Assistant Coordinator of Lay Participation, Isle of Anglesey, Wales
- Mary Tyrrell, Friend of Saint Eugene, Wirral, England
- Br Michael MOORE, OMI, Oblate Mission, Colwyn Bay, North Wales
Their generosity and creativity shaped this Novena and offered a space of calm, hope, and prayer for people near and far. We express our gratitude to the media team led by Jenny Forti, whose steady support and technical work helped these moments of prayer reach our global Oblate family.
A Global Community United in Prayer
Throughout the nine days, thousands gathered online to honor Mary and celebrate the richness of the Oblate charism. The Novena served as a spiritual preparation and a joyful expression of unity within our global family. As we close this journey and rejoice in the solemnity we marked yesterday, we offer heartfelt thanks to all who participated and supported it. Your presence and prayers brought encouragement and grace to the entire Oblate family.
Looking Ahead
May the inspiration of these days guide us in our mission of bringing Christ’s love to the world. “Mary Immaculate is the patroness of our Congregation. We shall always look upon her as our mother.” (C&R Preface)
