Members of the Saint Eugene Prayer Group commit to offering these intentions daily in their own manner of prayer. All members of OMI Lacombe Canada are highly encouraged to actively pray for the requested intentions.

Week 16

April 21, 2025

We hope you spent a blessed Holy Week and enjoyed a Happy Easter celebration. He is risen, indeed! In the sadness of many passings, yet Hope in the Risen Lord, this week’s Prayer Intentions for our daily reflection follow.

As a community, we pray

  • Fr. Jim Bleackley, OMI

    For the repose of Fr. Jim Bleackley, OMI who died on April 8, 2025 in Whitehorse.  We pray for the consolation of Jim’s family, friends and Oblate community who will all miss him greatly.

  • For the repose of Gwen Jahelka, Chancellor of the Diocese of Victoria, who died peacefully at home on April 11, 2025 surrounded by her family. As we pray for the repose of Gwen’s soul, we also remember her husband Bill and their three daughters as they grieve, and hope in the power of Christ’s Passion, Death and Resurrection.
  • For Irene R of Arnprior who has been sick for the last three weeks. We pray for the Lord’s healing graces on Irene and His blessings on her family who love and support her.
  • For Virginia Bird and her husband Jonas in La Ronge, SK, anxiously awaiting news of her brother Delbert. Delbert has been missing for two weeks. We pray for Delbert to be found alive, also for the welfare of his 11 children and for Virginia and Jonas’ trust in God’s mercy.
  • For Fr. Susai Jesu, OMI (Pastor of Lac Ste Anne, Enoch, Alexander and Alexis), Fr. Garry LaBoucane, OMI (Pastor of Sacred Heart Church of the First Peoples), Fr. Mark Blom, OMI (full-time Associate Pastor at Sacred Heart), Fr. Heinner Paucar, OMI (Pastor of Our Lady of Seven Sorrows, Maskwacis) and Fr. Marek Pisarek, OMI (part-time at Lac Ste. Anne and St. Albert Parish). We pray for the Lord’s abundant blessings on these Oblates to strengthen and empower them in their recently announced pastoral appointments.
  • For Blain Young of Saskatoon, Corrine Pambrun’s life partner, who had a very serious slip and fall. Blain is now recovering in the Saskatoon City Hospital until he is strong enough to return home. We pray for healing and recovery as Blain undergoes daily physio to assist him as his bone continues to heal without surgery.

  • Fr. John Greene, OMI

    For the repose of Fr. John Greene, OMI, who died April 20, 2025 at Mount St. Joseph in Vancouver. As we pray for John’s eternal peace, we also pray for the members of his Oblate community at Pandosy Place as well as the members of his family and his many friends.

  • For the repose of Pope Francis (Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio) who died April 21, 2025 in Rome. In our worldwide mourning and collective sadness as Catholics, we pray for the eternal rest of Pope Francis, whose humility, mercy, care for creation, and attention to the “peripheries” of both the Church and society will be an enduring benediction to those who follow.

 

A Prayer of Healing

O! Saint Kateri Tekakwitha, we ask for your intercession as the voice of the first peoples’ of our common homeland to help us protect our ecology, to care for Creation and to support each other in gratitude.

We pray that we, whether Indigenous or non-Indigenous, may draw from the example of your short faith-filled life, a profound hope in the Resurrection. May we strive for an authentic relationship of mutual respect, friendship and joy, as brothers and sisters, on a path of healing and reconciliation.

May your prayer ever be our prayer: “Jesos Konoronkwa”, Jesus, I love you.

EMAIL: prayers@omilacombe.ca. All emailed intentions (received by Monday noon ET) will be acknowledged and added for communal prayer for two weeks. Please consider brevity and form, as in the following example: For whom, from where, for what, other.  Example: For John S, in Fort Simpson, who has begun cancer treatment. We pray for the remission of his cancer and his perseverance.

Privacy and Confidentiality: All requests are confidential to the prayer group and the Members’ section of OMI Lacombe Canada’s website. To facilitate confidentiality, we ask that you use first names, (understanding that prayers are being sought for a specified person for a specific reason), and the initial of the last name, only if necessary, in your prayer requests. While prayer members protect each other’s’ privacy as normal practice, please pay special attention to respect the privacy of all those non-members for whom we pray.  Confidentiality is of utmost importance and is adhered to at all times by members, volunteers and staff in Prayer Ministry at OMI Lacombe Canada.

The Environment: We urge you to save paper by viewing these pages on your screen/monitor. If you cannot read the intentions comfortably and must print the sheets, consider printing in “grey scale” to conserve ink. At the Foot of the Cross Prayer intentions are emailed weekly on Tuesdays to Prayer Group members and published on Wednesday as Prayer Corner, on the OMI-Lacombe website’s Members Section (UserID and Password required).
