Prayer Corner
‘At the foot of the Cross:’ Saint Eugene’s Prayer Group
Week 19
December 15, 2021
As a community, we pray for:
David Sax who is asking our Oblate family for prayers for his condition “Let’s hope it works… I’m not 100% yet but it will tell.” It’s not a heart condition, but an irregular heartbeat that will hopefully be corrected through medication. This is why David was unable to go to Vancouver for the Dec. 8th celebration. This past week David had an echocardiogram and further testing in Nanaimo Regional Hospital Emergency, staying for a 2nd Thursday in a row, and home happily this past Friday – his mandolin playing was so sweet at church today! Prayers of thanksgiving for the good staff and quick diagnosis, and for all the prayers of friends and family. Thank you! God bless us all in “Holy Waiting” this Advent.
The repose of John Whyte, brother of Fr. Eugene Whyte, OMI. John died yesterday in England. Eugene had gone to England to visit John and other members of the family, so was able to visit with John before he died. We keep all the members of the Whyte family in prayer, asking God to give them the blessings and graces they need at this time.
Cheryl, a young mother with ovarian cancer. Prayers for her and her family.
T and E as they await news regarding a successful pregnancy
We continue to pray for
For MV who is waiting for surgery for a benign tumour and is in pain.
Fr. Richard Beaudette, as he continues his recovery.
Ashley as she struggles with emotional stresses associated with Christmas and her father Nathan who cares for her.
Families who are experiencing division and heartache made especially painful as Christmas draws near.
The global community as Covid continues to affect individuals and health care systems around the world.
The generous ‘Yes’ of men to an Oblate life and of men and women to Oblate Association.
Optional prayer:
God of hope, who brought love into this world,
be the love that dwells between us.
God of hope, who brought peace into this world,
be the peace that dwells between us.
God of hope, who brought joy into this world,
be the joy that dwells between us.
God of hope, the rock we stand upon,
be the centre, the focus of our lives
always, and particularly this Advent time.
Amen
