Prayer Corner
‘At the foot of the Cross:’ Saint Eugene’s Prayer Group
Week 17
April 26, 2023
As a community, we pray for:
Micah, who has been on our prayer list for some time. Micah is the 16-year-old granddaughter of Colleen Kerr. Colleen would like to share a most hopeful update about Micah’s journey that happened during Holy Week: Micah had an excellent fit with a new counsellor several months ago who is patient and gentle with her. She named her addiction shortly after meeting her new counsellor and feeling safe and ready to do so. Somewhere between Palm (I like to call it ‘Passion’) Sunday and Holy Saturday, Micah agreed to treatment! The centre where she will live in for 3 weeks of multi-disciplinary treatment is very focussed to youth 13 to 18 and only ten youth at a time follow their program. Micah will be offered a bed in 2 weeks or so. This is a huge courageous step for Micah, and we continue to hold her in our ongoing prayer. We know life cannot bring ‘resurrections’ without the suffering of ‘passions’. Nonetheless we rejoice with this ‘Good News’ and thank all whose prayers have provided Micah with the grace to begin her journey of recovery, one day at a time!
Jonah Gillam, a father of five, who will be undergoing a series of operations on his eye. We pray for the success of his surgery, so he can continue to work and support his family.
Theresa Goudreau, daughter of Pat Finn, who is recovering slowly from surgery…for her healing and for those involved in her care.
Dion, eldest nephew of Glenn Zimmer, OMI, and for their family. Dion died by suicide on April 17 and was buried yesterday. We continue to pray that God will bring Dion into loving arms and grant him peace and rest. We also pray for those who are left behind, that they would find comfort and hope in the promise of seeing their loved one again.
Hazel, who is 15 years old, has cerebral palsy, and is struggling.
Bill and Carol, as they experience loss and hardship in their lives. We pray for their healing and peace.
We continue to pray for:
All those in our community and families who are ill and have asked for our prayers. We pray for those who love them, and those who care for their needs.
Fr. Ron Rolheiser, OMI, as he undergoes more tests for cancer and treatment.
For Warren, recently diagnosed with cancer, and for his wife Bev and their family.
TJ who is experiencing many emotional and physical challenges in her life.
Albert St. Louis who is undergoing tests and waiting for results.
Melissa who is suffering from severe depression.
Roy Boucher, OMI, who is in hospital.
Edmond Paradis, OMI, whose cancer continues to progress.
For Elaine and Bernie & children for resolution to family challenges.
For Armand J, as he deals with end-of-life health issues, and for peace for his large family who loves him so much.
Matt S who is having heart issues.
Jaxon, who is recovering from surgery.
The generous ‘yes’ of men to an Oblate life and of men and women to Oblate Association.
We continue to pray for our Metis, Inuit and First Nations brothers and sisters.
We continue to pray for the people of Ukraine.
God of реасе and justice,
we pray for the реорІе of Ukraine today.
We pray for реасе and the laying down of weapons.
We pray for аІІ those who fear for tomorrow,
that your Spirit of comfort would draw near to them.
We pray for those with power over war or реасе,
for wisdom, discernment and compassion to guide their decisions.
Above аІІ, we pray for аІІ your precious children, at-risk and in fear,
that you would hold and protect them.
We pray in the name of Jesus, the Prince of Реасе.
Amen.
