Prayer Corner: ‘At the foot of the Cross’
Saint Eugene’s Prayer Group

Members of the Saint Eugene Prayer Group commit to offering these intentions daily in their own manner of prayer. All members of OMI Lacombe Canada are highly encouraged to actively pray for the requested intentions.

Week 17
April 23, 2024

As a community, we pray

For these brothers and sisters, their communities, their families and those who love them and those who provide for their care:

  • For Beattie B from Ontario whose body is failing her. We give thanks for God’s limitless love and healing as she continues on this stage of her journey into the heart of Jesus.
  • For Gisèle from Ottawa, as she faces the challenges of cancer and is currently hospitalized due to severe symptoms. We pray that the Lord will grant her courage and healing.
  • For Ashley from Edmonton who struggles with emotional and mental health issues. We pray that she seek effective treatment, and that her caregiver, Nathan, is able to help her in the best ways possible.
  • For Ryan Doornbos in Toronto, whose treatment for lymphoma continues. We earnestly pray for his healing and strength and for his family’s accompaniment.
  • For Francis of Ontario who lives with a disability, has a service dog and is homeless. We pray that Francis can obtain a stable home for himself and his service animal.
  • For Fr. Joe Jacek, OMI in Saskatoon whose leg is slow in healing. We pray that Joe’s leg gets better soon so that he can return to his usual activities with his community.
  • For Fr. Luis Ignacio Rois Alonso (Fr. Chicho), OMI our Superior General, who has been diagnosed with a detached retina and a significant episode of high blood pressure. We pray for the success of the medical attention being provided him and his return to good health soon.
  • For Gwen of Vancouver Island as she awaits word as to the treatment plan for cancer. We pray that she and her family know the Lord’s healing strength and love in a powerful way, through the intercession of St. Eugène de Mazenod.

For our Oblate family:

  • For the generous ‘yes’ of men to an Oblate life and of men and women to Oblate Association.
  • We keep in our prayers the OMI Lacombe Canada leadership team and all those involved in planning for the Province’s 2024 Convocation.

A Prayer of Thanks for Blessings Received:

Heavenly Father, in our prayers and petitions we ceaselessly ask you for your mercy and healing. May we also always fill our hearts with gratitude for all of the blessings you’ve given us, the graces we have received and the peace you have granted our sisters and brothers. Thank you, Lord. Amen.

For our Métis, Inuit and First Nations brothers and sisters.

Who is this that comes forth like the dawn, beautiful as the moon, bright as the sun…?
Song 6:10 (NCB)

O Blessed Virgin, Our Lady of Guadalupe, intercede for us with your Son

That we who live in this land, Indigenous and non-Indigenous together,

May experience healing and reconciliation on a renewed journey of justice and peace for our children.

Mother of the Church, pray for us.
