Members of the Saint Eugene Prayer Group commit to offering these intentions daily in their own manner of prayer. All members of OMI Lacombe Canada are highly encouraged to actively pray for the requested intentions.

As a community, we pray

That the Lord will welcome into His Kingdom

  • Fr. Gilles Gauthier, OMI, (1932-2024) who died in St. Albert, AB on May 20, 2024 at the age of 92. We pray that God grant Gilles eternal rest, and we keep in our prayers the members of Gilles’ community and all those who mourn his death.

For these brothers and sisters, their communities, their families and those who love them and those who provide for their care:

  • For the repose of the souls of Maurice Boulanger, brother (d. November 15, 2023, in Lac-du-Bonnet, MB), Hélène Boulanger, sister (d. March 31, 2024 in Minneapolis), Henri Boulanger, brother (d. April 26, 2024 in Lac-du-Bonnet, MB) of Fr. Noël Boulanger, OMI. We pray that God grant them eternal peace, and strength and consolation to those who mourn.
  • For the repose of Richard Dechant, brother of Fr. Michael Dechant, OMI. Richard died 8th May, 2024 in Manning, Alberta. We pray that God will grant Richard eternal rest, and that Richard’s family, Mike, and all the members of the Dechant family may find strength, peace and gratitude for the life they shared with Richard.
  • For Dan, who has been diagnosed with blood clots in his lungs and a massive clot around his heart. We pray for the success of ongoing treatment to bring resolution and healing.
  • Wendelin Rolheiser, OMI was admitted to St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon, suffering with pneumonia. His condition is serious, and the medical staff are doing all they can to assist Wendelin. As we pray for Wendelin, we also remember the members of his family and Oblate community who journey with him in his struggle.
  • Vaughan Quinn, OMI has returned to hospital in Ottawa after episodes of falling at the Greystone Transitional Hospital, where he had been since his discharge from hospital after being treated for a stroke. We pray for the members of Vaughan’s family and his Oblate community as he continues to struggle with recovery.
  • For John who is having a recurrence of a serious mental health issue. We pray that the Peace of Christ envelop him as he traverses this latest challenge.
  • For Joseph DF in Ontario District who is awaiting an appointment with a liver specialist for his liver enzymes. We pray that God may continue to bless Joseph and his family as they try to get the help they need.
  • For the repose of the soul of Mabel Paucar, mother of Fr. Heinner Paucar, OMI. She died at her home in Peru May 7. We pray that Mabel rest peacefully in Gods loving arms and that Fr. Heinner feel the prayers, love and strength from his Oblate family.

For our Oblate family:

  • For the generous ‘yes’ of men to an Oblate life and of men and women to Oblate Association.
  • For Fathers Andrzej Yuchnevich OMI and Pavel Lemekh OMI, who serve at the diocesan shrine of Our Lady of Fatima in Šumilin, Belarus, and who were detained May 9 and currently awaiting trial in Belarusian custody. We pray that, through the intercession of St. Eugene and Mary Immaculate, they will remain safe and unharmed to return home soon.
  • During this week we set aside time for prayer and animation for Oblate vocations. We pray that young men may be called to religious life by a desire to serve God and his people and the laity may hear the call to Association.

For our Métis, Inuit and First Nations brothers and sisters.

Please consider brevity and form, as in the following example: For whom, from where, for what, other.  Example: For John S, in Fort Simpson, who has begun cancer treatment. We pray for the remission of his cancer and his perseverance.

Privacy and Confidentiality: All requests are confidential to the prayer group and the Members’ section of OMI Lacombe Canada’s website. To facilitate confidentiality, we ask that you use first names, (understanding that prayers are being sought for a specified person for a specific reason), and the initial of the last name, only if necessary, in your prayer requests. While prayer members protect each other’s’ privacy as normal practice, please pay special attention to respect the privacy of all those non-members for whom we pray.  Confidentiality is of utmost importance and is adhered to at all times by members, volunteers and staff in Prayer Ministry at OMI Lacombe Canada.

If you cannot read the intentions comfortably and must print the sheets, consider printing in “grey scale” to conserve ink. At the Foot of the Cross Prayer intentions are emailed weekly on Tuesdays to Prayer Group members and published on Wednesday as Prayer Corner, on the OMI-Lacombe website’s Members Section (UserID and Password required).
