As a community, we pray
That the Lord will welcome into His Kingdom
- Gilles Gauthier, OMI, (1932-2024) who died in St. Albert, AB on May 20, 2024 at the age of 92. We pray that God grant Gilles eternal rest, and we keep in our prayers the members of Gilles’ community and all those who mourn his death.
- Wendelin Rolheiser, OMI, who died peacefully in Saskatoon’s St. Paul’s Hospital on May 22, 2024. We offer our condolences to his brother Pius, sister Bea, brother Ron, and the whole Rolheiser family, and all who will grieve his passing. We pray that Wendelin is now at peace in Gods loving arms.
- Mabel Paucar, mother of Fr. Heinner Paucar, OMI. She died at her home in Peru May 7. We pray that Mabel rest peacefully in Gods loving arms and that Fr. Heinner feel the prayers, love and strength from his Oblate family.
- Joe Staszko, a long-time Oblate Associate, who died May 20, 2024 in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta after a lengthy hospitalization. We pray for his repose and for the consolation of Helen his wife of 65 years and those who mourn Joe’s passing.
For these brothers and sisters, their communities, their families and those who love them and those who provide for their care:
- For Dan, who has been diagnosed with blood clots in his lungs and a massive clot around his heart. We pray for the success of ongoing treatment to bring resolution and healing.
- Vaughan Quinn, OMI has returned to hospital in Ottawa after episodes of falling at the Greystone Transitional Hospital, where he had been since his discharge from hospital after being treated for a stroke. We pray for the members of Vaughan’s family and his Oblate community as he continues to struggle with recovery.
- For John who is having a recurrence of a serious mental health issue. We pray that the Peace of Christ envelop him as he traverses this latest challenge.
- For Joseph DF in Ontario District who is awaiting an appointment with a liver specialist for his liver enzymes. We pray that God may continue to bless Joseph and his family as they try to get the help they need.
- For Gerry Zeck of Calgary, recently diagnosed with metastatic cancer. We pray that he and those he loves may find strength, courage and peace for this journey.
- For Ryan Doornbos of Toronto, as he continues treatment for lymphoma. We pray for courage, strength and healing and for his family and friends who support him.
For our Oblate family:
- For the generous ‘yes’ of men to an Oblate life and of men and women to Oblate Association.
For our Métis, Inuit and First Nations brothers and sisters.
Who is this that comes forth like the dawn, beautiful as the moon, bright as the sun…?
Song 6:10 (NCB)
O Blessed Virgin, Our Lady of Guadalupe, intercede for us with your Son
That we who live in this land, Indigenous and non-Indigenous together,
May experience healing and reconciliation on a renewed journey of justice and peace for our children.
Mother of the Church, pray for us.
