Prayer Corner: ‘At the foot of the Cross’
Saint Eugene’s Prayer Group
Members of the Saint Eugene Prayer Group commit to offering these intentions daily in their own manner of prayer. All members of OMI Lacombe Canada are highly encouraged to actively pray for the requested intentions.
Week 25
June 17, 2024
As a community, we pray
That the Lord will welcome into His Kingdom
- Deivanayagam Malaiyappan, who died June 12 in Chennai, India. He is the father of Fr. Vijay Deivanayagam, OMI. We pray for Vijay, his family and friends who are grieving at this time and pray that songs of the angels welcome Mr. Malaiyappan into new life with God.
For these brothers and sisters, their communities, their families and those who love them and those who provide for their care:
- For James Shaw of Gibbons AB, father-in-law of Serena Shaw, who is in end-of-life care and has not been awake since Saturday. We pray for God’s gentle hand to guide James through this part of his journey and to strengthen and sustain those who love him.
- For Fr. Edmond Paradis, OMI, who was transferred to the Riverside Health Centre Palliative Care unit last week. We pray for Edmond’s peaceful journey and we also pray for the solace of members of the Paradis family and his Oblate community of Taché District.
Prayer for Humility and Trust in Time of Uncertainty
- God of Creation, you have taught us through your son Jesus, that – like the mustard seed – small beginnings can lead to great growth. Inspired by the life of St. Eugène and the examples of so many saints who started with small acts of faith, may we grow in humility, trusting always in You. Lord, in these times of uncertainty and discord may Your Word be our guide for hope in the Resurrection through our small and random acts of love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
For our Métis, Inuit and First Nations brothers and sisters.
Who is this that comes forth like the dawn, beautiful as the moon, bright as the sun…?
Song 6:10 (NCB)
O Blessed Virgin, Our Lady of Guadalupe, intercede for us with your Son
That we who live in this land, Indigenous and non-Indigenous together,
May experience healing and reconciliation on a renewed journey of justice and peace for our children.
Mother of the Church, pray for us.
