Prayer Corner: ‘At the foot of the Cross’
Saint Eugene’s Prayer Group
Members of the Saint Eugene Prayer Group commit to offering these intentions daily in their own manner of prayer. All members of OMI Lacombe Canada are highly encouraged to actively pray for the requested intentions.
Week 28
July 8, 2024
As a community, we pray
That the Lord will welcome into His Kingdom
- Edmond Paradis who died on June 30, 2024. Edmond had been living with cancer for some time. We give thanks to God for Edmond’s life and faithful service as an Oblate, and we pray for him at this sacred time, as well as for Francois, Clemence, the Oblate community of the Tache District and all who grieve Edmond’s passing.
- Anne Leschuk, aunt of Joanne Friedt, passed away peacefully in hospital in Thunder Bay on July 2, 2024. We pray for her eternal rest and for the consolation of Joanne, Anne’s family and all those who grieve her passing.
For these brothers and sisters, their communities, their families and those who love them and those who provide for their care:
- For Mary Cooke and her husband Anthony as the family investigates ways of moving Mary into a residence. We pray the move will be both soon and good so she will be safe and cared for.
- For Joe DF whose condition continues to worsen in waiting to see a specialist. We pray for Joe’s patience and endurance and ultimate healing as he awaits the next stage in his health care journey.
- For Jeff and Melissa in Western Canada, expecting their first child in the Fall. We pray for the graces needed for a healthy, happy pregnancy and birth.
- For Nathan and Ashley as they seek new living arrangements this summer. We pray that they find places where life can flourish.
- For S, a young man living with schizophrenia and addictions. We pray that he finds the help he needs and for his family who care deeply for him.
- For Br. Harley Mapes, OMI as he awaits a more detailed prognosis and care plan after an initial diagnosis of colon cancer. We pray that God will bless Harley with strength and courage, and wrap him in the love and prayers of his Oblate family and friends.
- For Donna Tessier who is in continuous pain after a fall and struggling to receive appropriate medical care. We pray that the Lord will grant Donna strength and that she may receive urgent medical attention and pain relief.
- For B. & A. as they navigate painful days of a marriage separation. We pray for God’s grace to sustain them and for their eventual healing.
- For Helen Keller, of Saskatchewan Oblate District and past employee of Queens House, who experienced post-surgical complications on July 7, requiring a blood transfusion. Her condition is now stable. We pray for Helen’s strength and speedy recovery.
Pope Francis’ Prayer Intention for July: For Pastoral Care of the Sick
- We pray that the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick confer to those who receive it and their loved ones the power of the Lord and become ever more a visible sign of compassion and hope for all.
For our Métis, Inuit and First Nations brothers and sisters.
Who is this that comes forth like the dawn, beautiful as the moon, bright as the sun…?
Song 6:10 (NCB)
O Blessed Virgin, Our Lady of Guadalupe, intercede for us with your Son
That we who live in this land, Indigenous and non-Indigenous together,
May experience healing and reconciliation on a renewed journey of justice and peace for our children.
Mother of the Church, pray for us.
