Prayer Corner: ‘At the foot of the Cross’
Saint Eugene’s Prayer Group

Members of the Saint Eugene Prayer Group commit to offering these intentions daily in their own manner of prayer. All members of OMI Lacombe Canada are highly encouraged to actively pray for the requested intentions.

Week 29
July 15, 2024

As a community, we pray

For these brothers and sisters, their communities, their families and those who love them and those who provide for their care:

  • For Br. Harley Mapes, OMI as he awaits a more detailed prognosis and care plan after an initial diagnosis of colon cancer. We pray that God will bless Harley with strength and courage, and wrap him in the love and prayers of his Oblate family and friends.
  • For Donna Tessier who is in continuous pain after a fall and struggling to receive appropriate medical care. We pray that the Lord will grant Donna strength and that she may receive urgent medical attention and pain relief.
  • For B. & A. as they navigate painful days of a marriage separation. We pray for God’s grace to sustain them and for their eventual healing.
  • For Helen Keller, of Saskatchewan Oblate District and past employee of Queens House, who experienced post-surgical complications on July 7, requiring a blood transfusion. Her condition is now stable. We pray for Helen’s strength and speedy recovery.
  • For Abbot Peter Novecosky, OSB, of St. Peter’s Abbey, Muenster SK, who is in failing health and hospitalized. Abbot Peter has always been a good friend of the Oblates in the Saskatchewan community. We pray for Peter’s perseverance and trust in God’s great mercy at this stage of his journey.
  • For Jean Cochrane who has been in hospital. Jean is a former employee at Mazenod Residence, Saskatoon SK and a faithful friend to the Oblates in Saskatoon. We pray for Jean to be granted a restored and joyous life of health.

A Prayer to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel

O Most beautiful flower of Mount Carmel, beautiful vine, splendor of heaven, Blessed Mother of the Son of God, Immaculate Virgin, assist me in this my necessity… O Star of the Sea, help me and show me herein you are my mother.

O Holy Mary, Mother of God, Queen of heaven and earth, I humbly beseech you from the bottom of my heart, to succor me in this my necessity; there are none that can withstand your power.

O show me herein you are my Mother. O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse. Sweet Mother, I place this cause in your hands.

For our Métis, Inuit and First Nations brothers and sisters.

Who is this that comes forth like the dawn, beautiful as the moon, bright as the sun…?
Song 6:10 (NCB)

O Blessed Virgin, Our Lady of Guadalupe, intercede for us with your Son

That we who live in this land, Indigenous and non-Indigenous together,

May experience healing and reconciliation on a renewed journey of justice and peace for our children.

Mother of the Church, pray for us.
