Week 38
September 18, 2024
As a community, we pray
That the Lord will welcome into His Kingdom
- Bob Prather, husband of Sandy Prather, HOMI, passed away early this morning (Sept. 18) in Amsterdam. Sandy and Bob had arrived in Amsterdam on Monday, preparing for a river cruise with family. Bob passed away peacefully in his sleep. Please hold Sandy, her family, and loved ones in your prayers.
- Joseph Daniel Hattie, OMI, who died September 8, 2024 on the 65th anniversary of his religious profession as an Oblate of Mary Immaculate and two days after his 88th birthday. We pray for Joe and ask God for consolation and peace for his Oblate community at Springhurst and the members of his family.
For these brothers and sisters, their neighbours and friends, their families and those who love them and those who provide for their care
- For Kaitlin O. who is dealing with cancer. We pray for the Lord in his Divine wisdom to guide and guard Kaitlin in these difficult times.
- For B & A as they navigate mediations for a separation at this time. We pray they will receive God’s grace and peace at this moment in their lives.
- For Travis W. as he handles the ups-and-downs of a cancer diagnosis. We ask God to grant Travis the grace to seek the Lord’s loving companionship.
- For Eileen Materi, who is hospitalized after breaking a hip and subsequent surgery, plus a broken wrist while in hospital. She needs to regain strength before she can return home. Her husband, Reb Materi, is also having health issues and continues his devoted care for her. We lovingly place these prayers in your hands, Lord Jesus.
- For Br. Harley Mapes, OMI, that his cancer may be treatable and that our prayers for full remission be granted him, through Christ our Lord.
- For Melissa and Jeff in Western Canada as they prepare for their baby’s September arrival. We pray for a safe delivery and an abundance of grace as they adjust to their new family.
- For Ashley as she navigates various health issues. We pray that she accesses the professional help that she needs and that it is healing for her.
- For Fr. Richard Kelly, OMI as he moves from his beloved Galilee Centre home and chaplainship to be with his Oblate brothers at Springhurst. We pray for Richard’s strength and love to be felt wider and deeper in community.
- For Barb Still, from Arnprior, a senior who has terminal cancer. We pray that the Lord will grant her comfort in her last days and for her family.
- For Jane from Arnprior, whose health has been compromised by congested heart and mitra valve problems and COVID’s long lasting effects. We pray for Jane to enjoy healing and improvement in her on-going health situation.
A Prayer of Healing
O! Saint Kateri Tekakwitha, we ask for your intercession as the voice of the first peoples’ of our common homeland to help us protect our ecology, to care for Creation and to support each other in gratitude.
We pray that we, whether Indigenous or non-Indigenous, may draw from the example of your short faith-filled life, a profound hope in the Resurrection. May we strive for an authentic relationship of mutual respect, friendship and joy, as brothers and sisters, on a path of healing and reconciliation.
May your prayer ever be our prayer: “Jesos Konoronkwa”, Jesus, I love you.
