Prayer Corner: ‘At the foot of the Cross’
Saint Eugene’s Prayer Group
Members of the Saint Eugene Prayer Group commit to offering these intentions daily in their own manner of prayer. All members of OMI Lacombe Canada are highly encouraged to actively pray for the requested intentions.
Week 47
November 24, 2025
The following are Prayer Intentions for our daily prayers in this week of Christ the King. As this week ends we enter the Advent Season for Year A, the beginning of a new 3-year cycle of readings. Thank you to all who contribute prayer requests, pray daily and actively support this ministry.
As a community, we pray
-
For the repose of Bernard Pinet OMI, who died November 15, 2025 at Actionmarguerite Saint-Boniface in St. Boniface, MB at the age of 91. We pray for the repose of Bernard and also ask God’s grace for his brother Oblates of Maison Notre Dame and his family and friends.
- For Rev. Fr. Susai Jesu, OMI, who the Holy Father has appointed as the new Metropolitan Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Keewatin-Le Pas. May Saint-Eugene de Mazenod intercede for him, and may God, through his abundant blessings, help Susai to shepherd the People of God in this vast and diverse Archdiocese.
- For Doug, an Oblate Associate from Edmonton, who has been diagnosed with bladder cancer. As we place him in the Lord’s merciful hands, we pray that Doug may get a CT Scan soon and that a cancer treatment may be effective and short-term.
- For Andrew Weinkauf of Edmonton who continues to struggle with a variety of medical issues after recently being struck by a vehicle. We put Andrew in God’s loving embrace and pray for Andrew’s healing and recovery, and for his medical team and family who accompany him at this time.
- For Fr. Mike McCarthy, OMI of Westport On who has been diagnosed with macular edema and whose sight has suddenly become compromised. We pray that Mike’s course of intravitreal injections may provide him some relief and retard the loss of vision, and we pray for the Lord’s blessings on Mike, and his care team, family, friends and Galilee BOC members who journey with him in prayer at this time.
- For Eleanor Rabnett, Oblate Associate, who is currently in ICU at the Ottawa Civic Hospital after suffering a brain aneurysm. As we pray for Eleanor during this difficult time, we also remember her medical team, her close friends and her Oblate family members who have journeyed with Eleanor through the years.
- For the repose of the soul of Steve from Ottawa who died on November 22, 2025 from leukemia. May God grant Steve eternal rest and bring comfort and consolation to his friends and family in their grieving.
Pope’s Prayer Intention for the month of November: For the prevention of suicide:
Let us pray that those who are tempted to commit suicide might find the support, care and love they need in their community, and be open to the beauty of life.
A Prayer of Healing
O! Saint Kateri Tekakwitha, we ask for your intercession as the voice of the first peoples’ of our common homeland to help us protect our ecology, to care for Creation and to support each other in gratitude.
We pray that we, whether Indigenous or non-Indigenous, may draw from the example of your short faith-filled life, a profound hope in the Resurrection. May we strive for an authentic relationship of mutual respect, friendship and joy, as brothers and sisters, on a path of healing and reconciliation.
May your prayer ever be our prayer: “Jesos Konoronkwa”, Jesus, I love you.
