The Synod on the Amazon
Canada and Latin America Working Together
On November 12, 2019, the Centre Oblat and Development and Peace – Caritas Canada organized a symposium with St. Paul University entitled, “The Synod on the Amazon – Canada and Latin America Working Together.” The keynote speaker was Cardinal Pedro Barreto SJ, Archbishop of Huancayo, Peru. He had just returned from Rome, where he served as co-president of the Synod on the Amazon: New Paths for the Church and for an Integral Ecology.” He received an honorary doctorate from the university earlier in the day.

Over 150 people attended the Symposium in the chapel at St. Paul University, including (on the left) the Apostolic Nuncio to Canada, Most Rev. Luigi Bonazzi.
