Walking Together in Mission: The Superior General’s Message to Pope Leo XIV
On May 9, 2025, Fr. Luis Ignacio Rois Alonso, OMI, Superior General of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate, sent a heartfelt letter to Pope Leo XIV, offering congratulations and spiritual solidarity as the new pontiff begins his ministry.
Delivered through the Office of the Procurator General, the letter reflects the missionary zeal and deep ecclesial communion that define the Oblate congregation.
Fr. General thanks God for the election of Pope Leo XIV and assures him of the Oblates’ prayers and steadfast support. He notes how the Pope’s call to “walk together, without fear” deeply echoes the Oblate charism of being close to the poor and most abandoned. The letter also recalls the historic bond between the Oblates and the papacy, as the congregation prepares to mark 200 years since the approval of its Constitutions by Pope Leo XII.
With warmth and reverence, the Superior General reaffirms the Oblates’ commitment to serve the Church under the pastoral care of the new Holy Father.
