#WeHearYou About Climate Justice
A Message to Youth from Religious Communities in Canada
Dear members of the JPIC networks,
Dear community leaders,
In the fall of 2019, the JPIC Atlantic network of the CRC decided upon a common action: to express a message of gratitude and encouragement to Canadian youth for their leadership and action in response to the climate emergency. A letter to youth and a social media campaign have been put together. You are invited to share this campaign! Please connect with your colleagues in Communications to move forward in unison!
All CRC members and anyone in our CRC networks and beyond who desire to share in this expression of thanks may do so using the following materials.
- Download the campaign images (“memes”) for use on your website, social media and newsletter (each image is repeated because there are English and French versions)
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/b30091d9oabfhj8/AAAwFx74oQU7KuItpwOqHPv8a?dl=0
- Share the campaign images (“memes”) on your website, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Use the hashtag #WeHearYou when posting an image. The hashtag allows people to trace the campaign and see who has shared it. We recommend you do multiple postings over the next few weeks, so you may use one image per post.
- When sharing the campaign, be sure to include a short sentence or two. For example: Religious in Canada thank youth for climate emergency action. Read our letter! #WeHearYou
- In your post, be sure to include this link to the CRC website: https://www.crc-canada.org/en/wehearyou/. This webpage has been created with young people in mind, so they can view the letter, see videos and pictures of our CRC members in action, and find resources about ecology and spirituality, including Laudato Si’. Youth are also invited to get in touch with religious communities in their region. Perhaps intergenerational connections can emerge from this initiative!
- If you wish, use your own pictures to create memes, add your own community logo and the #WeHearYou hashtag! The more this gets shared, the better!
- Let the JPIC network know what feedback you get from the campaign!
- The campaign exists in French too: https://www.crc-canada.org/deboutavecvous/
If you have any questions, you can reach out to me. Let this campaign lead us into renewed action during this fifth anniversary of Laudato Si’!
Thank you to the JPIC Atlantic network for this initiative! Thank you all for sharing in it!
